AIA Urban Design Symposium

Date: 25 – 27 May 07 (Fri – Sun)
Urban Design Symposium
Heritage Matters! Cultural Continuity in Urban Regeneration

This Urban Design symposium provides a platform to increase urban design appreciation, and to create an awareness and knowledge of key issues faced in the remaking and repositioning of cities.

The weekend events allow architects to broaden their understanding and also mingle with other members and guests who are professionals and academics from the planning, urban design, landscape, conservation and property development fields. It aims at examining the issues, challenges and opportunities within reclamation, heritage conservation, and urban and waterfront regeneration that impact the development of the city. These critical urban agendas are explored through local and regional case study presentations, and through roundtable discussions with experts sharing experiences from Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai and Singapore. The charrette sessions on selected waterfront and urban regeneration sites are designed to provide hands on experience as a culmination to the Symposium.
